I'm Nina Rae, 21 years old and I discovered my love for cake decorating when I enrolled at Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts.
My cakes doesn't look professional and I still need to learn a lot so please enjoy!
Hello again! It’s only the first week of April and after the cake I made for my mom, I had to do another cake. It’s another small cake a facebook friend ordered from me, I’m not close with her so when I met up with her to give her the cake, it was our first meeting and I’ve been friends with her on facebook for a few years now, lol. And she was so pretty too! LOL I felt so ugly around her xD
So anyways, this cake is a Tiffany & co. gift box cake with a little chain heart that says happy birthday. At first she wanted a cake that was shaped into a ‘T’ with the color greenish-bluish Tiffany & co. colors because her sister named Tiffany. It was only for 5 people but the smallest cake pan there is a 6” which is 12 servings, she eventually agreed. I suggested an idea to make a Tiffany & co. gift box with the big ribbon and all then with a little chain. Originally, I wanted to add her sister Tiffany’s name but the heart was a little small so I only put ‘Happy Birthday’ which she was fine with it, of course.
The cake was a red velvet with cream cheese filling, everyone’s favorite, of course. She wasn’t sure what flavor to pick but since she hasn’t tasted red velvet before, she chose it.
Since it is only a small cake, it didn’t take long, maybe a day and a half. Baking it, masking it and covering it with fondant was pretty quick, though it was hard to shape it into a perfect square. then designing it was pretty fun. Adding the ribbon at the top made it look nice which I am very proud of :)
I’ll be honest, when I covered it with fondant, it sort of tore at the side so to hide it I added a pearl necklace around the gift box to hide it which also worked out perfectly. I am proud of this cake, I just hope they enjoyed it. She hasn’t message me about it yet but hopefully they loved it and her family loved it.
